What criteria do I need to meet to be added to ALA’s CLT list?
To be added to ALA’s list of Certified Lymphedema Therapists in Alberta, you must currently be practicing within the province of Alberta.
In addition, our list complies with the standards set out in the Canadian Lymphedema Framework’s Lymphedema Training Standards Consensus Statement, including, but not limited to:
- Practitioners must have unrestricted licensure or ability to practice in a related medical field, such as RN, PT, RMT, OT, MD, etc.

Are there other ways to advertise to patients and members through ALA?
ALA does not promote or recommend any specific speaker, product, service, provider, or vendor over others. However, we are committed to ensuring that members and patients have access and knowledge to options that are available to them in managing their lymphedema. If you have knowledge to share, we would love to have you speak at one of our Lymphedema Nights. You are welcome to mention your business and services in these presentations as long as you permit ALA to make disclaimers as we deem necessary.
What kind of physical resources can ALA provide to therapists?
We are happy to provide the following to therapists and clinics in the province for use and distribution to their patients:
- ALA informative brochure on the basics of lymphedema, treatment, and resources
- ALA custom log book for patients to track their appointments, measurements, and treatment plans
- Additional patient resources coming soon! – News in 2025
Simply email us at info@albertalymphedema.com and we will send you some at no charge!
What are the biggest areas of need in Alberta that CLTs or aspiring-CLTs should be aware of?
CLTs are needed by lymphedema patients all over the province. However, we see a particular need in the following areas or services:
- Rural Communities – Patients in rural parts of the province have less access to care and less options when it comes to finding a CLT
- Home Visits – As many individuals with lymphedema have reduced mobility, being able to receive treatment in their homes makes it much more accessible
Where can I buy bandages now that the Canadian Bandage Shoppe is closed?
While garment vendors will not sell directly to the patients or public, many of them will sell bandages directly to therapists, clinics, hospitals, and home health care locations. We recommend checking with your preferred vendor(s) on their policy for selling to therapists.
One vendor who has confirmed this is L&R Canada: Jim Annett, Sales Rep; jim.annett@ca.lrmed.com; (647) 614-8036
